When I started writing a blog over ten years ago, I never dreamed, I would be sharing so much of myself in my own posts. I mostly thought, it would have bits about my life, or the news of current events. Instead, I found it a safe place to put all my fears, and insights that I discovered, while practicing yoga, meditation, reading spiritual books. It morphed into difficult memories of the stages of healing from a childhood of sexual abuse. The beginning of writing the blog, was perhaps the most difficult. I felt a lot of the similar feelings of the sexual abuse I endured as a child. My words would come out fast and choppy. I could feel my fingers and body shake as I relived each moment, through the typing of the keys, and writing the blog posts. It was another way of telling my story, while safely releasing the toxic wounds, from within my body, mind, and soul. I never knew, in advance, what words would come to me, that would trigger a blog post.Sometimes it was a song, a distant memory, or a longing for a connection to myself that was tucked away deep inside my memories. I just knew that it had to come out on a blog and into reality in order to start the healing process. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Carl A. Huhta. Imagine being an outcast amongst the outcasts. Today, Susie looks at sex workers who inject drugs. That´s two taboos rolled into one! Susie reads an article from the blog Tits and Sass (http://titsandsass.com/) that interviewed both men and women escorts about their drug use. This very frank and honest discussion will debunk some stereotypical thinking - for example that it´s having to engage in sex for a living that turns people into addicts. They say no. They don´t mind the sex work; it´s just that they like drugs. This in-depth article covers brothels, self-medication, Johns who pay with drugs instead of cash, alcohol abuse, and sex workers´ rights. Then, in Susie´s ´´What´s New on Audible´´ segment, she previews a new-and-sexy medical-thriller audiobook: Crossroads by Radclyffe. It´s about a physician who likes adrenaline-filled emergencies. The pregnant women she saves think she´s a god. But when a strong-willed young mom doesn´t agree, the suspense begins. Susie has an excerpt, narrated by Lauren Fortgang, for you to enjoy. The story of fatherlessness is being written into the heart of this generation. It can be heard in our songs, seen in our movies, read in our blogs. It is a story of grief, pain, and loss. A story of shame, loneliness, and rejection. A story of missed potential and wasted opportunity. A story that desperately needs to be heard. But fatherlessness is more than a personal tragedy. It is a growing epidemic affecting more than the single life of an individual. Fatherless youth are the driving force behind our society’s biggest problems such as: gangs, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, and suicide. And all too often, the fatherless are either marginalized or ignored. How should we respond? How do we meaningfully engage the growing story of fatherlessness? How can the faith community enter into and begin rewriting this tragic story? It is in relationship that this generation has been wounded the most deeply; therefore, it is in relationship where the healing must begin. Intentional, intergenerational mentoring is the secret and foundational ingredient behind this new story of hope. Mentoring is also the most strategic way to reconcile the fatherless generation with God. As we make ourselves sacrificially available to this generation, we will begin to see a new wave of transformation - hope born in the story of changed destinies and lives. 1. Language: English. You´ve heard the stories about the dark side of the Internet - hackers, #gamergate, anonymous mobs attacking an unlucky victim, and revenge porn - but they remain just that: stories. Surely these things would never happen to you. Zoe Quinn used to feel the same way. She is a video game developer whose ex-boyfriend published a crazed blog post cobbled together from private information, half truths, and outright fictions along with a rallying cry to the online hordes to go after her. They answered in the form of a so-called movement known as #gamergate - they hacked her accounts; stole nude photos of her; harassed her family, friends, and colleagues; and threatened to rape and murder her. But instead of shrinking into silence as the online mobs wanted her to, she raised her voice and spoke out against this vicious online culture and for making the Internet a safer place for everyone. In the years since #gamergate, Quinn has helped thousands of people with her advocacy and online-abuse crisis resource Crash Override Network. From locking down victims´ personal accounts to working with tech companies and lawmakers to inform policy, she has firsthand knowledge about every angle of online abuse, what powerful institutions are (and aren´t) doing about it, and how we can protect our digital spaces and selves. Crash Override offers an up-close look inside the controversy, threats, and social and cultural battles that started in the far corners of the Internet and have since permeated our online lives. Through her story - as target and as activist - Quinn provides a human look at the ways the Internet impacts our lives and culture along with practical advice for keeping yourself and others safe online. 1. Eating pussy, muff diving, and giving head are making headlines in Toronto recently. It´s not about the sex shops; it´s happening at city hall. Today, Susie talks about Mayor Rob Ford´s sexual adventures up in Canada. Oh, it´s not been pretty - he´s in a bunch of trouble with his constituents as well as the press. Next, Susie looks at Google´s decision to display warnings on some popular search terms - and there are 13,000 that qualify! These words are associated with child pornography, so Google says it´s all about stopping child abuse. But some of the ´´dangerous´´ words are ´´daddy´´ and ´´Lolita´´. Susie says this is a lame attempt to help parents feel that their kids are now safer online. Then, in our ´´What´s New on Audible´´ segment, Susie introduces another sexy audiobook: Best Black Women´s Erotica by Blanche Richardson. This was the very first anthology of black women´s erotica, and it includes 25 stories by many great writers. Susie has an audio sample for you to enjoy. Have a question?
